Anthony Ramos in Talks to Play in Twister Sequel

It has recently been announced that Anthony Ramos could be joining the cast of the upcoming action sequel, Twisters. Anthony Ramos should be coming on board the latest Twister picture. A sequel to 1996’s tentpole Warner Bros. movie, the forthcoming Twisters is set to star Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones. Now, add Ramos as a star very likely to be joining them in the action extravaganza.

Daisy Edgar-Jones is coming off Fresh, a critically acclaimed indie picture from last year, as well as a hit summer drama from last year, Where the Crawdads Sing, while Glen Powell is also coming off a major summer 2022 hit, Top Gun: Maverick. Ramos failed to see his big screen summer 2021 picture, In the Heights make a lot of money at the box-office but let’s just blame the pandemic for that. He’s still quite an energetic and personable actor! 2023 should be just dandy for Ramos as his new action science-fiction picture is slated to be released this summer. That would be Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, a Brooklyn-set Transformers movie which is said to be bigger and better than some of the other films in the long-running franchise. Ramos should finally get his big summer blockbuster which will make him feel in good company with Edgar-Jones and Powell if Ramos’s casting in Twisters is finalized. Minari filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung is set to direct Twisters. Many fans of Chung are eagerly awaiting the upcoming action picture to see if it could top the original which was released almost 27 years ago. That first movie starred Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt, among others. Ramos received a coveted Golden Globe nomination for his performance in the much-adored In the Heights which premiered on HBO Max the same time it opened in movie theaters during the pandemic. Just about two years later, when Transformers: Rise of the Beasts finally opens early in the summer this year, it should be a reversal of financial fortune for the very talented Ramos. Universal Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and, yes, Warner Bros. (the studio behind the original Twister) will be producing Twisters. It’s easy to predict that the upcoming sequel will be a box-office tentpole for its respective studios while its cast should be a welcome breath of fresh air for viewers as the new up-and-coming stars are a far cry from the days when the action movie hero, Mark Wahlberg, played in a forgotten summertime Transformers picture. New blood should prove beneficial to both the upcoming Transformers and Twister pictures. Ramos should officially be able to branch out into summer blockbusters and have his upcoming projects make the money In the Heights failed to grasp in its initial theatrical run.
