The Lord of the Rings, Power Rangers, and Cowboy Bebop TV Series Resume Production in New Zealand

The Lord of the Rings, Power Rangers Beast Morphers, Cowboy Bebop have been greenlit to begin TV production New Zealand. The original productions that were taking place in New Zealand were halted due to the growing prevalence of Covid-19 across the world. New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is allowing the film crews for these production and other projects to enter the country and begin (resume) filming on New Zealand soil, creating three thousand jobs and adding four hundred million dollars to the local economy. The aforementioned other productions include the films Sweet Tooth and The Greatest Beer Run Ever.

These five productions will bring to New Zealand a total of two hundred and forty-one cast, crew, and family members. They include ninety-three crew members and twenty family members for The Lord of the Rings and nineteen crew members and nine family members for Cowboy Bepop. The production start dates for The Lord of the Rings and Cowboy Bebop have not been announced yet. The Lord of the Rings  had already begun production when the pandemic hit. Though they have not resumed production on The Lord of the Rings, they have begun pre-production.
