3rd Paddington Film Set to Go in Front of Cameras

A third film in the lovable Paddington film series is set to start filming this summer and is shooting for a 2025 release date. Paddington movies are like fine wine. They age extraordinarily well. After multiple viewings, Paddington 2 tends to get better and better with each watch. Paddington 2 was, at one point, deemed the most critically acclaimed movie of all-time when it reached a milestone with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes approval rating. Now, Paddington 3 is set to move into production this summer with a planned 2025 release strategy happening. It will be called Paddington in Peru, and since Paddington is Peruvian himself, it will make for a lovely setting for the picture which is set to be directed by feature film newcomer Dougal Wilson who will be taking over directorial duties from Paul King.

In Nicolas Cage’s movie buff’s comedy, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent from last year, Paddington 2 was hilariously referenced and helped two of the main characters in the movie bond. Yet, surprisingly enough, Paddington 2 wasn’t that big of a box-office hit domestically in 2018 earning just a mere $40 million. In comparison, the original Paddington made $76 million in 2015. Still, not surprisingly, both charming movies earned flawless “A” CinemaScore grades. Both movies scored roughly $200 million internationally, though. It is hopeful that Oscar-nominated actress Sally Hawkins of the previous two films will return to the franchise. Hawkins is coming off a charming performance in the critically acclaimed new film, The Lost King. Ben Whishaw should, once again, be voicing the lovable, huggable “Paddington” bear. If all goes well, audiences can expect to see the marmalade loving bear’s latest adventures up on the big screen in 2025. Fans of the series were in suspense recently as they were left hanging as to what would become of this third installment of the franchise which has admirers of all ages. It is a sigh of relief that this project is officially happening and Paddington lovers are probably already marking their 2025 calendars to look out for the film. Dougal Wilson is an English director of commercials and music videos who will hopefully be proving he has what it takes to roll in the feature film business. If his breathtaking previous work is any indication, he will bring a unique vision to the Paddington series and have a magic touch which could just make it the best film in the series. Could it become the greatest film of all-time? Paddington 2 once had that title according to its Rotten Tomatoes score and Paddington in Peru stands a good chance at winning over film critics’ hearts enough if it’s as good as its predecessor.
