According to Wright on Twitter, he has been unable to finish post-production on the film due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Focus Features, the film’s co-financier and U.S. distributor, has opted to delay the film’s fall release to spring. This makes Last Night in Soho the latest in the long list of film productions and releases delayed due to COVID-19. As consolation to his fans for the extended wait, Wright posted a photo from the film featuring stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Matt Smith in a pensive embrace.

“[The film] is not quite finished yet due to Covid 19,” tweeted Wright. “But, I’m excited for you all to experience it, at a big screen near you…”

The plot of Last Night in Soho is being kept under wraps, but it is rumored to contain elements of time travel, body swapping, and a 1960s London setting. Wright has also cited Nicholas Roeg’s Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion as inspirations for the film.
