Johnny Depp has triumphed over Amber Heard in the infamous defamation case which has made headlines for at least several months now. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are known for making the 2011 movie The Rum Diary together but when that film struck a sour chord with movie-goers earning just $13 million domestically and a deadly “C” CinemaScore grade, the stars of the film may have been better off parting ways. Instead, they became romantically involved and got married. It was a short lived love affair, though, that resulted in a slew of legal woes for both of them.

Depp and Heard both had their shares of difficulties especially after accusations were revealed by Heard that she was abused by Depp. Heard was just found guilty of defaming Depp by a Virginia jury with her 2018 The Washington Post op-ed which suggested she was the victim of abuse while in her relationship with Depp. Now that the former Edward Scissorhands star Johnny Depp has defeated Heard in court, more or less, it’s the moving forward part that will be difficult. For both of these talented performers, it will be quite interesting to see how their careers could (or could not) progress in the coming years. Amber Heard is currently the subject of a petition which would cut Heard’s role out of her upcoming picture due in 2023, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This petition is said to have almost 4.5 million signatures. Could Heard be removed from the picture? It’s anybody’s guess at this point. In the very heated legal battle between Depp and Heard, the final result proved to have a twist right out of a Hollywood movie as Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages while Heard was awarded just $2 million making the victory Depp’s by a landslide. Heard is expected to appeal the verdict. Although Depp could put together the pieces of his career a bit easier than Heard would probably be able to at this particular point in time, never underestimate the power of the passage of time. Heard is only 36-years-old and has a lot of talent that could make this just be a low point in her life. Depp lost a role in the latest Fantastic Beasts sequel due to this unfortunate series of events and it seems unlikely that he will be returning as Captain Jack Sparrow anytime soon. But, his victory is not to be taken lightly as it hints at the possibility of a silver lining for Depp’s potential to return to his lucrative movie career. Depp is already rumored to be involved in an upcoming Beetlejuice sequel. Could Depp share the screen with former flame Winona Ryder in this possible forthcoming sequel? “Stranger things” have happened!
