Luke Wilson To Appear in Upcoming Kevin Costner Film

One of our most appealing “every man” actors, Luke Wilson, has been cast in Kevin Costner‘s western film, Horizon. Luke Wilson has crafted the majority of his acting career roles playing everyday “Joes” in many quality films–both comedies and dramas. Now the likable actor has found himself part of a movie that has many insiders in Hollywood buzzing. It’s Kevin Costner’s epic film, Horizon.

Wilson came on to the movie scene during the mid to late 1990’s appearing in high profile films like the 1996 independent movie Bottle Rocket, horror sequel, Scream 2 and the sweet-natured 1998 Drew Barrymore comedy, Home Fries. Shortly after, in 2000, Wilson appeared with Barrymore again in the ensemble action/comedy, Charlie’s Angels. Wilson later returned to working with Bottle Rocket‘s Wes Anderson in The Royal Tenenbaums in 2001 but that was shortly after he made the hugely successful Reese Witherspoon comedy, Legally Blonde. The usually very appealing actor, Luke Wilson, has had his share of juicy roles. His huge hit comedy, Old School from 2003 remains one of his best loved pictures. In 2003, Wilson also played in Alex & Emma opposite Kate Hudson but that movie crashed and burned despite being a cute little romantic comedy that fell under the radar for the most part. It currently holds an 11% approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes so maybe others found it a bit less cute than I did. One of the most successful dramatic parts Wilson played from a critical standpoint was in the little seen 2008 indie gem, Henry Poole is Here where he played a man forced to confront his fate and his own personal faith as well. Wilson gave a sincere, heartfelt performance there that deserved to get more accolades. Luke Wilson had faltered a bit recently in the less than stellar adaptation of the book, The Goldfinch which was released in 2019 but he is back in action with a juicy dramatic role in the just released Lili Reinhart drama, Look Both Ways. The actor’s casting opposite heavy hitters such as Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington in the Civil War-era Horizon has definitely given Wilson a new opportunity to re-establish himself as a character actor to contend with. Also there were talks of Wilson possibly being on board to star in Legally Blonde 3 if circumstances were so to make it happen. It seems that Costner could help re-establish Wilson’s career through giving the actor a principal role in one of the most prestigious projects of filmmaker Costner’s later career. Horizon is going to be a film from Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. It is the type of movie that could truly bring back both Costner and Wilson to the cinematic limelight.
