Dune Sequel Has been Greenlit
The sequel to Dune: Part One has been given the greenlight by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Dubbed Dune: Part Two, the film will hit movie theaters on October 20, 2023. This will be an exclusive theatrical release this time around, meaning it will not be released coterminous on HBO Max like Dune: Part One. With Dune so well at the United States box office over the weekend, this news was inevitable. Denis Villeneuve has this to say about the sequel news: “I just received news from Legendary that we are officially moving forward with Dune: Part Two,” the filmmaker said. “It was a dream of mine to adapt Frank Herbert’s Dune, and I have the fans, the cast, and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros. to thank for supporting this dream. This is only the beginning.”
