New Emilia Jones Film Sells Overseas

Emilia Jones‘s new movie, Charlie Harper, has sold to several markets in the world positioning the film as a movie with a lot of potential appeal to moviegoers. If you haven’t heard of Emilia Jones’s latest project, Charlie Harper, the odds are high that you will sometime in the not-too-distant future. That’s because the movie has sold in several international markets. It seems like the movie has a lot of potential as evidenced by its recent Cannes sales. Toby Wallace co-stars opposite Jones in the high profile romantic film which has a lot of possible hopes for a successful run (theatrical or otherwise) given its newfound success.

Jones was a breakout star who came so close to an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her work starring in the Academy Award winner for Best Picture, CODA. While Jones’s recent movie that was at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Cat Person, was super interesting, it hasn’t yet found a solid offer from a studio to release it. “Low ball offers” were made for the timely picture (it received mixed reviews) but it probably won’t be seeing an official release date anytime soon. That’s what makes Charlie Harper such good news for the up-and-coming superstar, Jones, who should be wondering if her time to win some major awards is soon approaching. British born Australian performer, Toby Wallace, couldn’t be a better choice of a co-star to appear in a love story with Jones. Charlie Harper will trace the romance between the young characters played by Wallace and Jones who are named– you guessed it– Charlie and Harper. There will be skips in time and point-of-view switches in the picture. Jones’s character will be a struggling chef. Tom Dean and Mac Eldridge are going to be helming Charlie Harper. Emilia Jones fans are hoping that this could be the role to get the acclaimed performer the Oscar nod she could have gotten for CODA if 2021 was a less competitive year for actresses. Her work in Cat Person was also really good but it seems to have gotten lost in the film festival shuffle. That could all change if that movie gets a theatrical release or is seen on a streamer where its controversial story line is sure to reel viewers in. Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Israel, Latin America and Eastern Europe are among the territories which have scooped up Charlie Harper for themselves. The big question mark hanging over all this is which studio will get their hands on Charlie Harper for domestic release. Whatever studio it is, hopefully they will campaign Jones for an Academy Award nod if her turn is as good as her fans are expecting it to be.
