Stoller’s forthcoming wedding film to star Witherspoon will be about two weddings which are booked at the same venue during a weekend and, as a result, hilarity will be set into motion. Ferrell (Elf) is the perfect comic genius to play off Witherspoon while Stoller couldn’t be more in demand as a director. In the late 1990’s Witherspoon went back and forth between comedy and drama like a boomerang. In 1998, she starred in the funny Pleasantville which had dramatic shades but there was nothing funny about 1999’s Cruel Intentions which further put her on the map as a young actress to contend with. Witherspoon’s most successful comedy was 2001’s Legally Blonde, a movie where she played a young woman who takes on law school despite all odds and emerges triumphantly. She also appeared in director Mark Waters’ 2005 romantic comedy Just Like Heaven where she starred opposite Mark Ruffalo. Where the Crawdads Sing is a highly anticipated drama which was produced by Witherspoon’s company Hello Sunshine (which is also co-producing the untitled wedding comedy) and that dramatic picture is slated for a July 13th release. If it’s a big hit, Witherspoon will be known for her attraction to movies that have great appeal to the masses. On TV, she’s a firecracker having starred in the likes of both “The Morning Show” and “Big Little Lies,” to name a couple. Many insiders expect Where the Crawdads Sing to light up at the box-office and earn nice returns.
